Glazier Qualifications:

I. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 or 17 years of age with parent/guardian signature
  • Must have obtained either a High School Dipolma
    or G.E.D.
  • Physically Capable of doing the work
    (must be able to lift 85 lbs.or more)
  • Must provide a valid Washington State driver's license
II. Occupational Title:
  • Glaziers Architectural Metal and Glassworkers Apprentice
III. On The Job Training
  • Commercial Apprentice, (4 years)
  • Residential Apprentice, (3 years)
IV. Related Instruction:
  • 144 Hours per year.
  • 1 night per week September thru June
V. Union Membership:
  • Glaziers Architectural Metal & Glassworkers, Local Union # 188

  • Storefront Layout
  • Door Closures
  • Locks & Bolts,
  • Security Glazing and Andized & Painted Finishes.

Third Year:

  • Consist of three quarters of in-depth Blueprint Reading and Metal Fabrication
  • Scissor/Layout

  • Anodized & Painted Finishes

Forth Year:

  • Advanced Transits & Levels
  • Pressure Wall
  • Ribbon Window
  • Intro to Curtain Wall
  • Curtain Wall Layout
  • High Rise/High Span Curtain Wall
  • Rigging & Hoisting
  • Fork lift Training
  • Revolving Doors
  • Minimum of one quarter of Welding
  • Blueprint Reading

This class will be required to Layout, Cut, Fabricate and Install a mock-up Curtain Wall Structure.
